about
Google for Startups
Google for Startups works to level the playing field for startup founders and communities to succeed. We do this by bringing the best of Google’s products, connections, and best practices to startups at our global network of partners, at our seven Google for Startups Campus spaces, and online at startup.google.com.
VHLX is a program co-created by Visible Hands and Google for Startups. After graduation from VHLX, participants will have the opportunity to apply to the Google for Startups Latino Founders Fund.
Visible Hands and Google for Startups have been super valuable in providing us with a supportive community and getting us plugged into the overall ecosystem.
The program will run from August 1 to December 16, 2022. The cohort will consist of approximately 20 startups.
Only one founder per company should apply to the VHLX Fellowship. The founder that fills out the application will represent the company in our weekly sessions and additional events.
You must be a founder that identifies as Latinx, Latina, Latino, Chicano, Chicana, Chicanx, Indigenous Latinx, or First Peoples. We decided on the term "Latinx" for the overall program because we believe it is the most inclusive term that reflects all gender identities. However, we understand that this term does not work for everyone, and we invite you to identify yourself as you see fit.
You or your ancestors must have come from a Latin American country, including the Caribbean, Central, or South America. If your company is already incorporated, it must be a registered entity within the United States. Founders must have primary residence in United States.
You do not need to currently be full-time on your business, but you must have intentions to do so if you obtain the right capital and resources.
The program runs for 20 weeks, virtually, with a series of digital programming and mentorship happening each week. Founders will receive customized hands-on support from our team across a range of functions such as design, marketing, and business strategy.
There are two stages to our application process: 1) A written application and 2) an interview round. You will hear back on the evening of July 11th whether or not you receive an interview invitation. Please block some time for a potential interview on July 13th, 14th, or 15th. If you work full-time on another job, we will work around your schedule.
English, but we will create a safe space to speak Spanish or Spanglish as we connect with one another.
No, you don’t. VHLX aims to support founders at the earliest, most formative stages of company-building. Whether you are pre-idea or have been working on your company for some time, we provide you the investment, resources, and connections needed to hit your startup’s next milestone.
